Ok, so it's been awhile.
Kids are in full swing at school. Lauren made cheer leading at her school and will be cheering at the volleyball games. We are so excited!! She is so much like Doug it scares me. All ways willing to try something once, you go Lauren!!
Dalton, well he is very much like me and tends to stay behind the scenes. He loves taking his art classes at Artistic Hand and is looking forward to the fall campout with cub scouts.
We have many fundraising opportunities if anyone is interested in supporting the Cub Scouts we have scout popcorn and Lauren will be selling cookie dough for cheer in a couple of weeks. But if thats not enough, Dalton's school is doing a walk a thon to help raise money for the school. YOu can make a one time donation or sponsor Dalton for a few laps, But wait there's more...Lauren is raising money for her music appreciation class. They are selling cookies, pies, pizzas just in time for Thanksgiving. If you are interested give me a call. MOney has to be turned in on the 6th and products will be ready by the 18th of Nov.
My friend Donnalea was chosen a few months ago to be a donor for Be The Match and had her collection yesterday. Way to go Donnalea for being so brave, YOU ROCK!! Thank you for saving a life. I am very proud of you.
Must be getting to bed. Take care
Nancy

Wow, can't believe it's the end of August! I love it when fall rolls around.
Nice evenings outside with the kids, the start of football season, easy soups and stews for dinner.
I have some exciting news, for those of you that know my friend Donnalea. She has been chosen to be a bone marrow donor through Be The Match!!! We are going Thursday to Mayo Hospital in Jacksonville so she can have her physical and I believe she will go back on the 21st for collection. It's such a simple procedure, she has to take a medication to help her white cells grow and then the process is much like a transfusion. It pulls the blood out takes what it needs and puts the rest back in. If you are considering being transplant donor please visit Bethematch.com to learn more. Donnalea is so excited that she has the opportunity to save a life...Thank you for signing up Donnalea. Doug would be so proud.
This weeks middle school news is about girls having belly piercings, boyfriends and more than one ear piercing None of which Lauren will have in middle school. Geography lesson; where exactly are the Falkland Islands? You would think it would clearly be marked in her book but she can't seem to find it, what did we do before google???
Not much to report with 3rd grade. Dalton is still liking his teacher but has been complaining about his tummy hurting in the mornings. I seem to think it's nerves. He doesn't complain any other time.
Have a great night:0)

On our second week of school and we are sooooo testing the waters on behavior and staying up late and being soooo independent...at what point does a parent stop getting the homework out of the backpack along with a pencil and put it in front of the child and say here start your homework? Happy Wednesday:o
Lauren is interested in trying out for volleyball...not so sure how it all works (the process of trying out that is) but we will figure it out tomorrow afternoon. Now I know being a sixth grader she doesn't stand a chance but maybe just maybe it will turn out differently.
Dalton started back to cub scouts this week and is eagerly awaiting the fall campout.

We surived the first week of school and back to work!
Lauren is really enjoying middle school and loves the freedom to sit inside or outside for lunch. Her favorite classes are Life Skills and Language arts/journalism. But she says she enjoys the rest of classes aswell. She is becoming more comfortable in her music appreciation class, learning the proper techniques for singing.
Dalton is doing a great job with logging in his reading minutes and keeping up with his spelling words.
We are all thankful it is the weekend!!!

Today went much better for me than yesterday. My baby girl went off to middle school with no problems and my baby boy packed his own lunch, although we are struggling to get our things together without mom having to do it in the morning. By Thursday we will all be having melt downs.
It felt good to get back to work today and see familiar faces along with a few new ones. Can't wait to see what the good Lord has in store this year!

It is finally here....the night before 6th grade and 3rd grade!!! I'm so excited and nervous for both of them I don't know if i will be able to fall asleep. Not! those late nights and running around are catching up with me. I will miss having Doug say goodbye to the kids when they get on the bus. He would always walk around the bus and say goodbye to Lauren first, reach up and touch her fingers and then go to the other side and say bye to Dalton.
Thanks to Ms Lee we avoided a disaster in the morning. Lauren decided that she didn't have enough supplies and that we needed to run out and get more filler paper, colored pencils, dividers for binders, which I will have to buy more. And Ms Lee was kind enough to share some of her extra supplies.
Dalton has his best friend and neighbor in his class this year. I hope this will help him come out of his shell. Lauren is already making lunch arrangements with her bff and discussing what to wear.
I need to head to bed. The morning is going to be busy for sure. ![]()

Today Lauren and I went to the TNT winter season kickoff. So great to see so many eager participants. It was nice to finally meet G, he was Doug's first contact when Doug was just diagonosed. G and Doug both had CML and I think G had his transplant about a year ago. He looked good and is doing well. Thank you G for sharing your story.
I'm thinking of doing the Disney Half Marathon on January 8th in honor of Doug. This is the event he missed because he fell out of remission last year and the event took place on one of the coldest days ever in Florida history. Anyone interested in doing it with me? I know its going to be a lot warmer (has to be) than this past January so don't let the weather scare you. Again, right now it's just a thought and training starts Monday the 16th!!!

Today I had my second cavity ever! filled. Had a hard time in the beginning. I brought up Doug and then had to regroup. All was fine by the end because my jaw was in so much pain from holding it open! the thought of being there all by myself went away. Having tenderness up by my cheek and a mild headache but no issues where the cavity was.
Right now Dalton is laying here with me showing me the picture on his phone. I ask what one is and he says its a picture of black and white blimps so I say where did you get that , he says off the inter-net. I don't think I even know how to get pictures off the inter-net and send them to my phone and then use them as a screen saver. Man kids are quick these days...
Looking for ward to going to Art Affair Gallery in Sanford tomorrow. They are hosting a fundraiser for the Icla da Silva Foundation benefiting patients with Leukemia. Show starts at 5p.m.
